U9 LDB Join Manitoba Moose in Hockey Fights Cancer Initiative

The event aligned with the broader Hockey Fights Cancer program, a joint initiative between the National Hockey League (NHL), the NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA), and the American Hockey League (AHL). Since its inception in 1998, the campaign has raised millions of dollars for cancer research, patient support services, and awareness efforts nationwide.
The Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets, have been longtime participants, incorporating lavender-themed warm-ups, auctions, and fan engagement activities during their own Hockey Fights Cancer night.
The U9 Lightning’s participation highlights how local minor hockey programs can amplify national efforts, fostering empathy and resilience among young athletes while contributing to a larger mission.
